In Your Own Community...

Most local police and sheriff's departments in America still do not have the basic knowledge and personnel they need to investigate child pornography or online predators. You can start "thinking globally and acting locally" by calling your local police or sheriff's department. Do they belong to an Internet Crimes Against Children ("ICAC") task force? Do they have officers doing this work? Find out the answers. Then go to your City Council or County Commission and ask them to increase the funding for these desperately-needed programs. The child you save could be your own.

In Your Own State...

No matter which state you live in, you can be certain that funding to combat child exploitation is too low. Ask your local state representative or state senator to visit this website. Then ask for help increasing funding for law enforcement programs that investigate child pornography and online predators. You don't have to be an expert... just find the ICAC task force (see link above) or other law enforcement agencies doing the work and make it your mission to get them more funding. They might not be allowed to ask your lawmakers for more funding... but you can!
